History
The Murrell Academy of Drama, situated at 231 Charters Towers Road, Mundingburra, has been Townsville’s foremost Speech and Drama school for twenty years. Principal, Ann Murrell trained at Irene Lambrose’s Studio prior to establishing her career as a Speech and Drama teacher. Following Irene’s early retirement due to poor health, Ann finished teaching at the Lambrose Studio and launched her own school, then known as the Murrell Studio.
The Academy has grown from strength to strength with students competing in local eisteddfodau, undertaking examinations and producing performances for the community.
Ann teaches Speech and Drama examination classes, manages the school, examines and adjudicates as well as developing specific programmes for contract work. Ann now employs a number of Associates that lead other classes and complete contract work as required.

Philosophy
The Academy believes in fostering personal growth throughout the creative learning process. We achieve this by providing a friendly learning environment and positive learning opportunities through speech, drama, music, singing and movement classes. The focus is on personal development, not just theory and practical work. Former students have always commented on the self-worth, confidence and self-discipline they have discovered through the Academy. We want to ensure all current and future students graduate with the same outcomes.
